(3848) Capping slab, Combined capping slab, Isolated capping slab
A reinforced concrete slab built over the top of the foundation well/wells or at or near the bed level of the stream to support a pier. When the same slab joins two or more wells of a pier, it is termed `combined capping slab` and where separate capping slabs are provided over each well of a pier, they are called `isolated capping slabs` (illustrated).
